Weekend Facelift OVERVIEW
The Weekend
Lift is a variation on a surgical technique
developed in the early 1990s. This procedure
tightens the skin in the lower portion of the face
and neck in a minimally invasive way. The patient
benefits from impressive results similar to a
traditional lower facelift with a lower likelihood
of complications and a quicker recovery.
The Weekend Facelift
is an excellent procedure for men and women
experiencing the signs of aging; sagging jowls and
minor neck laxity in patients as young as 40.
Patients with more advanced neck aging are better
corrected with a more extensive lower facelift for
maximum tightness and rejuvenation. The Weekend
Facelift is more affordable than a traditional
facelift and is an ideal solution for the right
patient.

THE PROCEDURE
The Weekend
Lift is an outpatient procedure that usually takes
two hours to attain the correction desired. Oral
pre-medication is generally suggested to help relax
the patient. Local anesthetic is required.
A small, relaxed "S"
shaped incision is made beginning along the
sideburn, extending along the tragus of the ear,
around the earlobe and up to the hairline toward the
nape. The underlying connective tissue and facial
musculature is gently lifted and tightened using a
purse-string suture technique, which immediately
enhances the appearance of the jaw line and upper
neck, and makes the improvement long lasting. The
redundant skin is then addressed and the incision is
closed using a suturing technique designed to reduce
tension and minimize any visible scarring.

RECOVERY
Recovery from
this procedure ranges from four to seven days. Most
of our patients who have surgery on a Thursday
return for a follow up on Friday and return to work
on Tuesday, depending on bruising. Women may need to
cover the suture line with their hair and may
possibly wear a turtle neck to minor cover neck
bruising. Sleeping with the head elevated is
encouraged to lessen swelling. Generally, Tylenol is
adequate for post-operative discomfort.
The Weekend Facelift can
be performed alone or in combination with another
procedure such as eyelid lift, neck liposuction,
browlift or with a facial filler such as Juvederm or
Restylane if needed. Some patients pictured in the
Weekend Facelift Before and After pictures below
have had the Weekend Lift only and others have had
other cosmetic facial procedures with the facelift.

RISKS
As with any type of surgery, there are inherent
risks, which can include post-operative swelling,
bleeding and visible scarring. However, refraining
from smoking and carefully following the pre- and
post-operative surgical instructions reduces the
likelihood of these complications.
